Dumi Mkokstad whose real name is Mdumiseni Nzimande is a 30 years old award-winning gospel artist and songwriter.
The South African singer was born in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal and grew up performing at family events.He released his first album in 2003 and has gone on to release more than 10 albums within 17 years.During one of his performances, he was discovered by a music promoter, Hamilton Kubashe.

Dumi Mkokstad attained academic prowess at school. He was also amongst the best of his time. His passion for music made him delve into the profession quite early.
The award-winning gospel artist started his career as a prodigy. He released his first album, Dumi Mkokstad, in 2003, only aged 11.
In 2010, he joined Big Music and became one of South Africa’s best gospel artists. He has worked with other elite artists such as Jaziel Brothers, Hlengiwe Mhlaa, Bethusile Mcinga, Thinah Zungu and many others.
His recent album, ‘Ebeke Walunga u Thixo‘, was also a top hit after its release in 2018. Dumi’s songs; Safa Naye and uLwandle has enabled him to win accolades.
He has released multiple albums during his time as an artist, spanning over 17 years. Some of them are; Angikamboni (2005), Africa Classics (2008), Kuphelele (2014), Egameni LikaJesu (2017) and Ebeke Walunga u Thixo‘ (2018).

Dumi Mkokstad got married to Ziphozenkosi Mthembu on the 6th of June, 2019. He proposed to her at the Eastern Cape after a long friendship that lasted for 12 years.
The gospel artiste spends his time writing and recording songs. He also travels frequently for performances in gospel events around Southern Africa.
